Over the summer and into the start of the 2023-24 school year, Herkimer Central School District is focusing the Spotlight feature on Herkimer CSD administrators who either recently joined the district or moved to a new administrative role. Today, the Spotlight is on Zachary Abbe, who was previously the middle school principal and became the high school principal following Mary Tomaso’s retirement.
Spotlight on: Zachary Abbe
High School Principal
This will be my ninth year as an administrator for Herkimer Central School District. Prior to coming to Herkimer I taught high school mathematics for two years at Brighton High School and then at Waterville Jr./Sr. High School for seven years. In 2015, I began my administrative career as the assistant principal (7-12) at Herkimer Jr./Sr. High School. I was honored to be named the middle school principal in 2018 when we went through the grade reconfiguration that shifted our sixth grade from the Elementary to the Jr./Sr. High. I am very proud of what we have been able to build into the middle school experience and I look forward to seeing other developing initiatives come to fruition with Maria Lindsay as our new middle school principal.
I am extremely grateful for every opportunity I have been given at Herkimer Central School District and I am proud to serve this community alongside a very dedicated group of professionals.
