Spotlight on: Rachel Waseleski
Eighth Grade English Teacher
2012 Graduate of Herkimer CSD
Q. What is your background experience that led to this position?
A. The past five years, I’ve taught middle school English at a neighboring district. I fell in love with that age group and the curriculum.
Q. What makes you excited about working in your new role at Herkimer CSD?
A. I’m very excited to have the opportunity to come back to the school that I graduated from.
Q. When did you first know you wanted become a teacher and what made you feel that way?
A. I come from a family of educators, so one could say it’s “the family business.” But aside from that, there truly is no greater joy than working with kids. To have a positive impact, big or small, in their lives is extremely special.
Q. What do you think makes Herkimer CSD special?
A. The welcoming and collaborative atmosphere is incredible. It’s truly all about the kids and how best to provide for them.
Q. How does it make you feel to now be working at Herkimer CSD after previously going to school here?
A. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to give back to the school and community where I grew up.
