The Art Student of the Month for December/January is Raylana Griffin! Raylana is in 10 grade, and she is currently taking the basic drawing techniques/Drawing 1 class. Raylana was chosen as Student of the Month by Mrs. Zorn because she consistently uses her class time well, she is willing to challenge herself creatively, and she has improved her craftsmanship in her project work. Below is an interview with Raylana.
Q. How does it feel to be Art Student of the Month?
A. Great, honestly! It brought a newfound confidence in my artwork.
Q. What are your favorite art-making materials to work with, or subjects you like to portray?
A. My favorite art-making materials are oil pastels, graphite and colored pencils.
Q. Do you have any artworks that you are particularly proud of?
A. I am proud of my skeleton drawing because it helped me with positioning.
Q. Where do you find inspiration from when you are creating your own artwork?
A. I find inspiration from memories, sketching or just looking around.
Q. What are your plans after high school? Do you plan on continuing to create art in the future?
A. After high school, I plan to continue creating art.
Q. Do you have any advice for your peers about the art-making process?
A. Don’t stress it! Everything is difficult. Just go with what you feel like making, even if it is right for you and not for others.
