The Art Student of the Month for May is Perzhia Mayo! Perzhia is a 12th grader who was chosen as Student of the Month by Mrs. Zorn because of her positive attitude and willingness to challenge herself creatively. She continuously practices her art-making skills, and it is evidenced by her exemplary body of artwork. Below is an interview with Perzhia.
Q. How does it feel to be Art Student of the Month?
A. I appreciate being recognized for the dedication I put into my artwork, and it inspires me to make more.
Q. What are your favorite art-making materials to work with?
A. I love working with colored pencils, alcohol-based markers, and oil and acrylic paints, sometimes.
Q. Do you have any artworks that you are particularly proud of?
A. I am proud of my art history-inspired portrait drawing.
Q. Where do you find inspiration from when you are creating your own artwork?
A. I often find inspiration from meaningful pictures, visuals, feelings, and general inspiration in my daily life.
Q. What are your plans after high school? Do you plan on continuing to create art in the future?
A. I plan on taking a year off and saving money until I figure out what I want to go to college for. I plan on always creating art in the future, therefore, I had thoughts on being an art or music counselor.
Q. Do you have any advice for your peers about the art-making process?
A. Have patience, and practice, or you’ll drive yourself crazy!
