Herkimer student commits to Hartwick College to play women’s field hockey

Herkimer student Audrey McDonnell has officially committed to play women’s field hockey at Hartwick College this fall. She plans to major in biochemistry.

During the commitment ceremony on Monday, April 7, others present included her parents John and Jennifer McDonnell, coach Kelly Rowland and a few of her teammates.

Herkimer high school counselor Carolyn Saugh provided the following comments about McDonnell:

“She has been a dedicated member of the Herkimer field hockey program since eighth grade, consistently bringing passion, leadership and a strong work ethic to the team.

This past season, the Herkimer field hockey team combined with Central Valley Academy. The change didn’t diminish Audrey’s love for the game – instead, it broadened her perspective and deepened her passion for field hockey, ultimately playing a big role in her decision to continue her career at the collegiate level.

Audrey is a true role model for our underclassmen, known not only for her athletic commitment but also for her academic excellence. She plans to major in biochemistry at Hartwick, where she will no doubt continue to excel both on the field and in the classroom.

Congratulations, Audrey! We are incredibly proud of you and can’t wait to see all that you accomplish at the next level.”
