Students in agriculture teacher Talia Baker’s landscape design class at Herkimer Middle-High School have been crafting seasonal displays throughout the year.
“It’s exciting to witness the students’ creativity, and we hope everyone enjoys the displays this season,” Baker said.
For the autumn designs, students pitched their ideas, which were then voted on by their peers and teachers Ms. Bello, Mrs. Sommer and Mrs. Jones. With support from Annutto’s Greenhouses in Herkimer with the donation of some mums and some pumpkins and the Carney family with donations of hay bales, the winning designs were brought to life.
After Thanksgiving, the class dismantled the autumn displays to prepare for the winter season.
Thanks to generous donations of balsam fir boughs from Massoud’s Tree Farm in Sauquoit, white pine boughs from Mr. Schneider and some foraged materials, students created six beautiful planters that will be on display throughout the winter.
