Herkimer Elementary School hosts 1st Thanksgiving Parade

Herkimer Elementary School students participated in the school’s first Thanksgiving Parade on Tuesday, Nov. 26.

Elementary students in prekindergarten through fifth grade have been reading the book “Balloons over Broadway” by Melissa Sweet during library class and planning for the parade. In art class, they have been creating their designs to parade with. In music and physical education, they have been working on the music and dance aspects of the parade.

The students’ work from across all their specials classes culminated with the schoolwide Thanksgiving Parade. By class, students paraded their projects up to the stage in the cafeteria and then returned to their seats. The event ended with a surprise visit from Santa Claus to kick off the holiday season.
