What do you get when you mix Music in Our Schools Month with March Madness at Herkimer Elementary School?
Herkimer Elementary School vocal music teacher William Pegg created “Music March Madness” for Herkimer Central School District third graders and continued the tradition this year.
For the competition, third graders wrote their own short songs in music class with Pegg.
The songs students created were entered into a March Madness style competition and elementary students were able to choose their favorite songs.
Third grade teacher Jenna Becker’s class won the competition and received a golden recorder as a trophy, along with a poster that Pegg made for the event.
