The Herkimer School Counseling Department assists students of all ages and their families with career, college, and personal development. They offer online and in-person resources and encourage students and parents to discuss any concerns with counselors. They also provide guidance to help students plan for their futures.
The school counselor offers individual and small-group counseling on school-related issues, based on requests from teachers or parents. These sessions are brief and focused, with long-term therapy referrals made as needed. Small groups are formed from individual caseloads or teacher requests, focusing on themes like anxiety, divorce, self-esteem, anger management, coping skills, test-taking, and friendship skills.
School Counseling Plan
New York State Education Law requires the Herkimer CSD to develop district-wide and building-level comprehensive developmental school counseling guidance plans.
