Public Participation

PUBLIC EXPRESSION AT MEETINGS

1. All meetings of the Board shall be conducted in public, and the public has the right to attend all such meetings. Public expression at such meetings shall be encouraged and a specific portion of the agenda shall provide for this privilege of the floor. At its discretion, the Board may invite visitors to its meetings to participate in the Board’s discussion of matters on the agenda.
2. Members of the public attending Board of Education meetings will be permitted to make comments to the Board of Education under the following conditions:
   • All speakers must state their name and address for the record.
   • Public comments will be solicited at the beginning of each regular meeting following the Pledge of Allegiance as a routine agenda item.
   • Public comments may be permitted at other times during the meeting at the discretion of the President of the Board.
   • The President of the Board of Education will maintain control over public comments, and may limit and/or close discussion at his/her discretion.
3. The Board of Education reserves the right to enter into executive session as specified in Policy 2304, Executive Sessions.
