The Art Student of the Month for October is Avrey Allen! Avrey is in 10th grade, and she is currently taking Basic Drawing Techniques/Drawing 1. Avrey was chosen as Student of the Month by Mrs. Zorn because she consistently uses her class time well, she is willing to challenge herself creatively and her art-making skills have improved. Below is an interview with Avrey.
Q. How does it feel to be Art Student of the Month?
A. It feels pretty good to be honored as Art Student of the Month.
Q. What are your favorite art-making materials to work with, or subjects you like to portray?
A. My favorite art-making materials are colored pencils. I especially like creating vibrant artworks.
Q. Do you have any artworks that you are particularly proud of?
A. I am really proud of my acrylic painting of the Grateful Dead bears with the 3D print.
Q. Where do you find inspiration from when you are creating your own artwork?
A. I find inspiration online, sometimes through sites like Pinterest.
Q. What are your plans after high school? Do you plan on continuing to create art in the future?
A. After high school, I plan on becoming a physical therapist. I would like to continue creating fun artworks during my free time.
Q. Do you have any advice for your peers about the art-making process?
A. Take your time, and practice! Skill just doesn’t come out of nowhere.
