The Art Student of the Month for June is Alyssa Canter! Alyssa is in the ninth grade and she was chosen as Student of the Month by Mrs. Zorn because of her desire to challenge herself creatively, as well as her diligence and determination in the classroom. Alyssa uses her class time well, and she has even taken the initiative to attend extra art classes throughout her day, in order to improve her art-making skills. Below is an interview with Alyssa.
Q. How does it feel to be Art Student of the Month?
A. It feels fantastic to be chosen as Art Student of the Month.
Q. What are your favorite art-making materials to work with, or subjects you like to portray?
A. My favorite art-making materials are paint, colored pencils and markers.
Q. Do you have any artworks that you are particularly proud of?
A. I like my pencil portrait drawing of Michael B. Jordan.
Q. Where do you find inspiration from when you are creating your own artwork?
A. I find inspiration from things I like or the things I am interested in.
Q. What are your plans after high school? Do you plan on continuing to create art in the future?
A. After high school, I would like to go to college, but right now I am undecided about what I want to study. I will still create art in the future, in my free time.
Q. Do you have any advice for your peers about the art-making process?
A. My advice is to not give up, and trust the process. Keep trying new things!
